Thai dressage rider Suphajit Vuntanadit has etched her name in Thai equestrian history by becoming the first Thai to win an international Grand Prix test at the 2025 CDI-W Olomouc on 22 - 25 May 2025.
The milestone victory came in the 3* Grand Prix class, in which Suphajit delivered a standout performance aboard her long-time partner, Wall Street JV. She earned her place in the record books with her winning score of 66.239%.
Vuntanadit competed in the Grand Prix for Special in a field of seven and convinced the judges and audience. Just one week earlier Suphajit also claimed second place at CDI-W 3* Máriakálnok with a personal best score of 67.3%, securing her first World Equestrian Games qualifying score — making this a historic back-to-back achievement for Thai dressage.
“This win means everything to me, so many years, so many moments have led up to this with Wallie,” said Suphajit. “To achieve this together and then have the chance to represent Thailand on this stage… it’s something I’ll carry with me always.”
A Rising Talent in Equestrian Sport
Suphajit “Patty” Vuntanadit has emerged as one of the most promising Thai riders on the international stage, recognised for her quiet determination and strong bond with her horses.
Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Patty began her European competition journey at Young Riders level in 2021 and has steadily developed ever since.
With the Hanoverian gelding Wall Street JV (by Wie Weltmeyer x Starway) she advanced from small tour to Grand Prix level in the autumn of 2023, an achievement that reflects not only skill but years of dedicated training and development.
Their partnership has already turned heads, with highlights including back-to-back wins in the CDI1* Intermediate I Freestyle at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida in 2023. Now, with her first CDI 3* Grand Prix victory at just 24 years of age, Patty continues to chart new territory for Thai dressage.
A Family Affair: The Vuntanadit Sisters
This latest milestone is part of a broader story of Thai dressage’s rise, driven by the remarkable partnership between Patty and her sister, Suphakamol “Pammy” Vuntanadit.
"I couldn't be more grateful and proud of the journey that we've been through over the last 4 years with our wonderful horses," said Pam. "Having started in Europe at Young Riders and slowly moving my way up to U25 and now to senior GP has been full of fun moments but also full of challenges. There's always something new to learn everyday both in and out of the saddle."
Elevating Thai Dressage
Residing together in The Netherlands and based with their horses at a private barn across the border in Belgium, the Vuntanadit sisters have spent over a decade building their paths from the ground up. Without a traditional equestrian background, they’ve forged their way with grit, mutual support, and a deep respect for their horses. They remain committed to elevating Thai dressage and showing what’s possible through their love for the sport.
On their European journey they have sought out training in Belgium and the Netherlands, getting coaching from experienced riders such as Olympians Tineke and Imke Bartels, as well as Grand Prix riders Tommie Visser. At the moment they are coached by Spaniard Sergio Bermejo Garcia.
This milestone in Olomouc is not just a personal victory, but the beginning of a new chapter for Thai dressage. As Suphajit and Suphakamol Vuntanadit continue to push boundaries together, they are committed to inspiring the next generation while representing the Thai flag on the world’s biggest stages.
"We are personally aiming for the World Championships in Aachen and hopefully the Olympics one day because it's been a dream of mine since I was a kid," said Pam. Patty added, "my focus is on working toward the World Championships. It would be a huge milestone for me, especially with Wallie—we’ve come such a long way together. If we do get there, representing Thailand on that stage would be incredibly special. But above all, I just want to keep growing with Wallie and make the most of the partnership we’ve built over the years."
