Aniko Komjathy-Losonczy's Hungarian Grand Prix team horse Dior S has been retired from competition sport. The 17-year old gelding celebrated the end of his sport career by winning last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix Championships.

Dior S is a KWPN gelding by Spielberg out of Wolivia L (by Florestan x Aktion x Uniform x Millers Grey xx).

Dutch Start

Dior S is bred by the Lemmen brothers in Maasbree, The Netherlands. Grand dam Folivia also produced international small tour horse Elbrasco-L (Beaudine Pieters).

He was started under saddle and first competed nationally up to Z-level by Henriette Steeghs.

Dior S made his international show debut at Grand Prix level under Remy Bastings in 2018 at the Aachen Dressage Days and then also showed him at the CDI's in Saumur and Nice.

The tall gelding then sold to Japanese Satoshi Maeda and was later listed as owned by the company Okura Ltd in Tokyo, Japan.

Maeda kept the horse in training with Hungarian Aniko Losonczy and showed him herself at the CDI Mariakalnok in May 2018 as well as at the CDI's in Fot and Zakrzow that year.

Losonczy began showing the horse herself in 2019. "Honestly, I probably would never have chosen him myself—he’s such a gentle giant, and I’m so small—so we weren’t exactly the most proportionate pair," Aniko admitted. "But from the very first moment I sat on his back, he showed me his incredible heart. He gave me his full trust and seemed to say, “I’ve got you, always.” From that day on, he became so much more than a horse—he became my friend, my partner, and truly one of the most extraordinary horses in the world to me."

At the 2021 European Championships in Hagen
As of 2020 Aniko Losonczy began campaigning Dior S internationally, premiering him in Brno in August 2020, followed by Fot.  In 2021 she showed him extensively in Szilvásvárad, Samorin, Pilisjaszfalu, and Brno to qualify a historic Hungarian team for the 2021 European Championships in Hagen, where Aniko and Dior were 29th in the Grand Prix with 70.046% and 28th in the Special with 68.343%.

In 2022 they began the year by being invited to the 5* in Doha and then showed in Ornago, their home show Mariakalnok, and Brno before heading to the World Championships in Herning, where they placed 77th with 65.481%.

Also in 2023 Dior S was a consistent Hungarian team member finishing 51st with 67.422% in the Grand Prix at the Europeans in Riesenbeck.

In 2024 the pair focused on the World Cup Qualifiers to obtain their qualification for the 2025 World Cup Finals. Aniko and Dior only showed in two CDI's in the spring of 2025: Doha and the World Cup Finals in Basel, where they were 17th in the Kur to Music with 67.095%.

The Final Shows

At the 2023 European Championships
Losonczy and Dior S were selected on the Hungarian team for the 2025 European Championships in Crozet, where he was sent to the holding box but then passed. However, before the Grand Prix he was withdrawn from the Euros.

Last weekend, the pair did show at the Hungarian Grand Prix Championships and won gold. It prompted Aniko to decide to retire her career making horse from sport.

"Dior has been so much more than just a horse—he has been my partner, my teacher, and my greatest supporter," Aniko told Eurodressage. "Together, we have shared countless unforgettable moments in nearly a hundred Grand Prix competitions and on the European stage."

As career highlight Aniko lists the team representations but in particular, "in 2021, we competed in the Grand Prix Special in Hagen, achieving a result that meant so much for Hungary. In 2024, we became winners of the Central European League in the World Cup, qualifying for the World Cup Final—a dream come true."

Losonczy and Dior S got three medals at the Hungarian Grand Prix Championships. They won silver in 2020 and 2021. They did not compete in 2022, Aniko rode Cristall in 2023, and in 2024. This year it was gold.

Retirement

Grand Prix Championships
Dior will remain with Aniko at the Mariakalnok Dressage Center where he will be continued to be ridden in all quietness before being fully retired to the field.

"Now that he is 100% fit and still loves to work, I will of course continue riding him—but always without any pressure, expectations, or demands," she said. "We ride purely for our happiness, joy, and the wonderful feeling of being together, and only as much as he enjoys."

Aniko continued, "he will also have plenty of time to enjoy long walks in the fields and outings on the trails. Plus, he can relax and feel completely at home in his large paddock stall and his grooming area with Marina Zabela, his long-time groom, who has cared for him with so much love and dedication over the years. Dior truly feels at home, surrounded by the people, spaces, and experiences that make him happiest."

Losonczy is highly grateful for what Dior has enabled in her career.

At the 2022 World Championships
"I had the incredible honor of receiving the Silver Badge of Honor from the International Equestrian Federation, and I owe so much of that to Dior," she said. "His heart, his trust, and his unwavering spirit have shaped my career in ways I can never fully express. He has been by my side through every challenge and triumph, and I truly believe he is one of the greatest horses in the world—for me, he has been simply perfect."
