Ohio, a Hanoverian and Oldenburg licensed stallion, has been gelded and will focus fully on sport. He is a double WCYH finalist.

Ohio is a 2019 born Dutch warmblood by Kaiman out of Laika ASD (by Grand Galaxy Win x Fidertanz). He is bred by Jan Pieter Dalsem.

Licensed

Ohio was first licensed at the 2021 Oldenburg Stallion Licensing in Vechta and five months later was approved for Hanover in April 2022.

He performed in the shortened suitability test in Vechta in April 2022 and scored a total of 8,26 points with 8,3 for trot, 8,6 for canter, 7,8 for walk, 8,3 for rideability, and 8,3 for willingness to perform. He did the sport test in March 2023 and scored 8.40 points.

Ohio did very little breeding. The German equestrian federation has no offspring registered, but there are 9 offspring recorded in the Horsetelex database.

Kirsten Brouwer

The ride on the black was allocated to Kirsten Brouwer.

They were 7th in the 2023 Pavo Cup Finals and 9th a year later at the 2024 Pavo Cup Finals. They also competed at two consecutive World Young Horse Championships, finishing sixth in 2024 in Ermelo and 15th in 2025 in Verden.

Gelded

Brouwer and Ohio are back in the running for a Dutch team spot for the 2026 World Young Horse Championships in Verden. They competed today at the Dutrch WCYH team qualifier.

Kirsten also announced that Ohio now goes through life as a gelding.

"Finally on tour with Ohio again, he is castrated and a virus kept us home a bit longer as planned, so not the best preparation," Kirsten explained. "So happy how hard he tried today in this difficult 7-year old test. And we had a super nice training with a super feeling."
