Adelinde Cornelissen announced on Instagram that she had to say goodbye to Luqiedo, who died unexpectedly.
Luqiedo was a 10-year old Dutch warmblood gelding by Aqiedo out of Dimanche (by Stedinger x Jazz x Ulft). He was bred by Adelinde's life partner Aris van Manen.
Sport Career
Cornelissen trained the horse from young horse level to Grand Prix.
They finished 16th in the 2021 Pavo Cup Finals when the bay was five years old. They represented KWPN at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships for young dressage horses in Ermelo. They were eliminated in the 6-year old preliminary round. A year later they were 38th in the 7-year old preliminary round and then retired from the consolation finals.
Their international small tour debut was at the CDI Exloo in May 2024, where they finished second in the Prix St Georges (69.559%) and third in the Inter I (71.323%) and Inter I kur (74.550%). Half a year later she presented him at the CDI's in Leeuwarden and Kroinenberg, winning two out of four classes.
They were 7th at the 2024 Dutch Small Tour Championships and in 2025 they won the small tour consolation class. This year the pair had been competing at national Grand Prix level.
Untimely Passing
Cornelissen shared her sadness for Luqieo's sudden passing today. No cause of death was revealed.
"Luqiedo, my special one… so positive, kind, sweet, cute, warm-hearted, social, energetic, intelligent, talented horse with so much willpower and strength is now a star in heaven," Adelinde wrote. "You taught me so much: the incredible feeling you gave me when we rode together. with such ease playing with all the exercises and having so much fun doing it. Our Grand Prix debut only one month ago - the test has never felt so easy!
But also your never ending energy, positivity and drive. Your enormous will power and strength. The world would be a better place if we all look a little bit like you."
