Blue Hors has sold its small tour competed Monte Carlo to a Danish pony team rider.

Monte Carlo is a 9-year old KWPN by Dream Boy out of Gina Ballerina (by United x Jazz). He is bred by Tim Coomans.

Premium Stallion

Owned by the breeder in partnership with Joop van Uytert and Nico Witte, the bay stallion was named premium at the 2020 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch.

Shortly afterwards he sold to Blue Hors stud in Denmark. It was initially announced that a 50% share sold, but over the years Blue Hors seems to have come into full ownership of the horse.

He did his 14-day suitability test in Denmark and later that year finished second in the 2021 KWPN Autumn stallion performance test with 88 points.

In 2021 he became Denmark's most used breeding stallion with 168 coverings in Denmark; 142 of them for Danish warmblood mares, 26 of them for mares registered with other breed societies. The stallion was already number two of most used stallions in 2020 with 118 coverings. In 2022 he was the eighth most used stallion.

Sport Career

Monte Carlo at the 2020 KWPN Stallion Licensing

He was first competed in Denmark by Spaniard Cristian Tudela Ruiz in May 2021, but Nanna Skodborg Merrald took over the ride and won bronze in the 2021 Danish Young Horse Championships for 4-year olds. In 2022 they were 8th at the Young Horse Nationals and in 2023 he won gold in the 6-year old division.

The pair made its international debut at small tour level at the 2024 CDIO Compiegne, where they were third in the Prix St Georges and won the Intermediaire I with 71.588%. At this year's Danish Young Horse Championships he was fourth in the preliminary round for 7-year olds but was pulled from the final round. In the autumn of 2024 Blue Hors announced it had gelded the stallion.

For two years Monte Carlo disappeared from the international show scene to return in March 2026 under Sophia Ludvigsen, who was Merrald's assistant rider at the time and now Blue Hors' head dressage rider. It was the horse's last show.

Sold to Danish Pony Rider

Blue Hors has sold Monte Carlo as a junior rider's hopeful to Danish pony team rider Anna Dora Munch.

The 15-year old Munch competing two ponies - Tackmann's Giotto (by HET Golden Dream x Valiant Starlight) and Valegro (by Voyager x Der Feine Lord)- nationally before she made her international show debut on pony Del Classico in April 2026 at the CDI Tolbert, where she won the individual test. She also competed in one test at the CDI Lier, followed by the CDIO Hagen. She was nominated on the Danish team for the 2026 European Pony Championships in Le Mans, where she finished 11th in the individual test and got team silver.
