Highfive Fuglsang, an 8-year old Danish warmblood licensed stallion and WCYH finalist, has been sold to a Danish junior rider. He will continue his sport career under 2022 European Junior Kur champion Sophia Obel.

Highfive Fuglsang is by Grand Galaxy Win out of elite mare Holiday (by De Niro x Hill Hawk xx). He is bred by Anne-Dorte Riis Laursen at Fuglsang stud.

Sold to Norway

The grey stallion sold as a foal to Norwegians Ronja and Else Dahlseng as a future ride for Ronja. The colt was reared in Denmark at the breeder's stable and quickly developed into a stallion prospect.

Highfive was sent to Hesselhoj to be prepared for the licensed and was approved at the 2018 Danish warmblood stallion licensing in Herning. He did his 35-day stallion performance test in the autumn of 2018.

Sport Career

Trained and competed by Anders Sjobeck Hoeck, Highfive Fuglsang won silver as a 4-year old at the 2019 Danish Young Horse Championships. In 2020 he was selected to represent Denmark at the World Young Horse Championships but the event was cancelled due to corona. An almost two year break from competition sport followed.

Highfive returned to the arena in the late spring of 2022 and got selected as a 7-year old for the 2022 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, where he finished 13th in the Finals. They also won silver at the 2022 Danish Young Horse Championships.

The horse did not compete in 2023.

Young Riders Hopeful

Highfive Fuglsang has now been sold to the Obel family as a young rider hopeful for Sophia Boje Obel Jorgensen. The 18-year old is in her last year as a junior rider.  The stallion arrived in Obel's barn a month ago.

"I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and will do my best to keep him happy and healthy so that hopefully we can have a lot of good experiences together with this star," she took to Facebook. "We are slowly just getting to know each other and I’m really looking forward to the future."

Sophia won Kur gold at the 2022 European Junior Riders Championships on Brilliant, who tragically passed away a year ago. She found a new ride in Zouzo, but the horse proved not a match and was sent back to Germany to be sold again. She continued with  the 7-year old Danish bred Askari Pilekaer (by Apache x Florestan), which they bought in June 2021, and made it back onto the Danish team for the European JR Championships, where they won team silver and finished 12th in the Kur. She also won the 2023 Danish Junior Riders Championships. On national level, Sophia has also been competing Vaiana (by For Emotion x San Amour) and Foldagers Chablis (by Romanov x Idocus). Obel's father invests in young horses in partnership with former Danish youth team trainer Dennis Fisker

Breeder Anne-Dorte Riis Laursen is thrilled with Highfive's continued sport career.

"Though the years Highfive became a huge gift for the owners, myself and my husband, as we are very good friends for 8 years now," Anne-Dorte told Eurodressage. "It’s been a privilege for us to be a part of this fantastic journey. We all are so proud of him."

Ronja never got her riding horse," Anne-Dorte smiled, adding, "but we have a fantastic friendship! The bought a filly, High Society (by Blue Hors Monte Carlo out of mare Holiday). This year Haute Couture (by Blue Hors Livius out of Holiday) became a silver medal winning mare at the 2023 Danish Warmblood Elite Mare Show with 840 points. She was amongst the 10 best 3-year old mares in Denmark."
