Renowned Danish stallion stations Blue Hors Stud will close its doors in Ranbøl on 1 April 2024 and a heavily reduced number of stallions will move to the smaller yard, Stutteri ASK, on Fyn.
Standing Five
Blue Hors has announced which five stallions will still be available to breeders with fresh semen in the 2024 breeding year. They are St. Schufro, Farrell, Santiano, Monte Carlo, and Baron.
Zack will be available exclusively through ICSI at VetEmbryo, 'as he will be enjoying his retirement in a large pasture with a sea view," Blue Hors stated.
Don Olymbrio will be part of Nanna's collection of Grand Prix horses and will be available via frozen semen.
Martin Klavsen, Lene Hansen, Kaj Rosenlund, and Lasse Bendixen have retained their position with Blue Hors and will be the team that will operate the stallion station on Fyn.
The Others?
Eurodressage inquired after a string of breeding stallions that were part of the Blue Hors roster in the past. Klavsen was only able to reply about a few of them. We wondered about Feinstar, Glamourville, Londoner, Bonfilio, Storm, Fortron, Zackerey, Zoltan, Viconte, and Bondo.
Klavsen confirmed that Storm sold under his original name Skovdals Storm at their November auction and Fortron has been gelded "a long time ago". He could comment on the other stallions.
Further Blue Hors stallions have been sold or re-allocated. Kingston sold to Danish pony rider Sofia Rosenkilde, Zackorado will stay with para rider Tobias Thorning Jorgensen, Luton passed away.
The German branch of Blue Hors in Winkelsett will be closed.
