A Danish delegation of pony pairs have established dominion of the pony division at the 2024 CDI Sint-Truiden on 5 - 7 April 2024.
Hosted for the eight, consecutive year and with a 10th edition, the international dressage competed at Stal Het Gravenhof is a fixture on the early spring FEI calendar. Nestled in the apple orchards of Sint-Truiden, Belgium, this riding stable offers a low-key, low pressure environment in a familiar atmosphere. Incessant rain in the weeks leading up to the event turned the fields and corridors into a mud fest, but the main arena and warm-up have outstanding footing and the organizer brings a pleasant atmosphere with a friendly crew to the show ground.
A particularly large Scandinavian delegation with riders from Denmark and Sweden travelled south to compete here, while Belgium was only represented by a mere five combinations. The Belgian equestrian federation marked the CDI's in Aachen and Tolbert as observation events or "competitions with presence of the chef d'equipe" in the early spring and surprisingly excluded its own Belgian CDI from the line-up (Lier was included).
It has been a Danish trio of top placed pairs that topped the leaderboard and were invited into the arena for the prize giving ceremony. In the team championship test Caroline Mortensen aced the class aboard the experienced 15-year old Morgensterns Dakar (by Don't Worry) with 71.143%. She trains with Danish Grand Prix rider Anne Troensegaard. Alberte Josefine Harsbo and the 7-year old Mysterie Check (by Movie Star x Cracker Jack) were second 70.762%, while Cecilie Gautier Christensen and another FEI pony veteran, the 13-year old old Tackmann's Cookie (by Can Dance x Neckar) were third with 70.429%.
On sunlit Saturday 6 April 2024, Gautier Christensen rose to the top with 73.784%, while Filippa Jaeger Jensen and the 13-year old Crown Charm of Royal (by Casino Royale K x Monte Christo) were the runners-up with 71.216%. Filippa is the daughter of former Danish 2018 WEG team rider Betina Jaeger Jensen. Harsbo placed third with 70.270%.
