Ginsengue, Nicole Favereau's internationally competed Grand Prix horse, has been retired from sport. Dressprod announced the news first.
Ginsegue is a 19-year old Belgian warmblood mare by Welt Hit II out of Habile Fontaines (by Livingstone). She is bred by F. Fuveille and E. Dekens in Belgium.
Nicole Favereau
In 2013 Nicole and Ginsengue became a combination making their international show debut in 2015 at Medium tour level at the CDI Saumur.
In the autumn of 2015 the horse moved up to Grand Prix level at the CDI Saumur and posted 64.400% in his first big tour test. They competed consistently at the highest level at internationals through 2020 and represented France at the FEI Nations Cup at the 2017 CDIO Hickstead and 2019 CDIO Geesteren.
Although team trainer Jan Bemelmans short-listed them for team selection, they never made the final cut. Their Grand Prix high score was 70.220% at the 2017 CDI Pompadour. In 2017 they won bronze at the French Grand Prix Championships.
At the 2020 CDI Le Mans he was withdrawn from the Grand Prix and half a year later retired at the CDI Compiegne. The horse had a break from competition due to an injury and returned to the arena at the 2022 CDI Le Mans in February, where they posted 65.087%.
Marine Soulet
In May 2022 the ride on Ginsengue was passed on to Marine Soulet, Nicole's daughter from her first marriage to Pierre Subileau.
For two years the paid gained experience at national shows in France. They did two CDI's, both in Le Mans. In 2022 they scored 63.783% in their first big tour test, while exactly one year later, they posted 66.152% in the Grand Prix.
Retirement
The 19-year old Ginsengue has been retired from sport after booking 8 international wins and 62 national victories across the levels.
"Ginsenque concluded her sport career in style at the CDN Saint Lo," Nicole told Dressprod. "We are now going to try to make her a mommy. We have chosen Expectation PS (by Escamillo x Furst Romancier). I believe he has the qualities that Ginsengue is missing a bit. We'll see. A new life starts for her."
