In a personal Christmas greeting, Danish horse dealer Andreas Helgstrand announced that he has never sold more horses before then in this corona year. In addition, 6,000 mares have been bred to Helgstrand owned stallions.
The Christmas message on video includes a personalised carol, followed by a message from the ceo himself, Andreas Helgstrand.
First Half Year Nothing, Second Half Year Record
Helgstrand says that that for him the 2020 corona year was the worst and the best, all in one.
"2020 has been very, very difficult because the first half year we didn't see anyone here," he explained, "but we decided to keep on training the horses like we normally do, run our business and buy the foals like we always do," he explained. The last half year has been the most amazing ever. I don't think we ever sold that many horses."
"So in general we are very very happy to see that the business of horses is so strong, the whole industry," he added.
Helgstrand's most prominent sales this year include breeding stallions D'Avie, Janeiro Platinum and Kardieno, as well as dressage horses Quaterhit, Don Vito and Florine OLD.
6,000 Breedings
While sales in spring came to a standstill, the breeding business boomed.
"The stallions have been breeding more than ever. I think we bred more than 6,000 mares from Helgstrand stallions this year," he stated.
