Lotte Krijnsen's Rosenstolz Retired from Sport

Dutch para dressage rider Lotte Krijnsen has announced the retirement of her top horse, Rosenstolz.

Rosenstolz is an 18-year old Oldenburg mare by Rotspon out of Sayonara (by Sandro Hit x Feiner Stern). She is bred by J. Kurz.

The black mare followed in the footsteps of Krijnsen's first para horse Nikita (by Elcaro x Nabuur) who was retired in 2013. The pair ended up competing in 137 international classes.

The 35-year old Krijnsen is a Grade III rider. She was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, also known as Von Recklinghausen disease

Dutch Medal Winner

In 2014 Krijnsen and Rosenstolz kicked off their partnership with a silver medal at the Dutch Para Championships.

At the 2015 European Para Championships in Deauville they won double bronze. Two years later at the 2017 Europeans in Gothenburg they picked up team bronze and were 7th individually. They were not selected for the 2018 World Equestrian Games nor 2019 Europeans.

In 2021 they made their final push for Paralympic team selection and showed in Doha, Waregem and Kronenberg, but were not selected despite consistent top five results. However, in 2022 they were back in the spotlight and rode on the Dutch team at the World Para Dressage Championships in Herning, where they won team gold and kur silver. At the 2023 European Championships in Riesenbeck there was team gold and kur bronze?

Retirement

Krijnsen and Rosenstolz campaigned extensively this 2024 show season with the Paralympics in Paris as target. The showed at the CPEDI's in Doha, Waregem and Kronenberg.

Krijnsen has decided to stop her paralympic campaign and retire the 18-year old mare from sport.

"This season she has been on and off, not always top fit and in agreement with the team vet and team trainer we decided this week to end her competition season. It's a hard, emotional decision after having been on the Dutch squad for 10 years and many successes with my loyal 18-year old mare, who deserved her rest a little earlier. She will not complete the trajectory to Paris and will not compete in the final team selection trial in Deurne."

Lotte recently premiered a new horse at CPEDI level, the 8-year old KWPN mare Lianne (by For Gribaldi x Oscar).
