The 25-year old young professional Phoebe Peters has switched employers, moving from Van Olst Horses to Reesink Horses in The Netherlands.

Peters took up the new riding job at Reesink's in Eibergen (NED) at the start of August

Decorated Pony Rider

Peters won the  European Pony Championship on SL Lucci  in 2013 and 2015. At the latter euros she scored triple gold and achieved world records in all three tests. The first of these record scores was broken only five years later, in 2020 (Baumgurtel/Nasdaq), while the two other were broken in 2021 (Oatley/Daddy Moon).

Phoebe's talent was spotted by brand new Olympic champion Charlotte Dujardin, who in 2014 gave her the ride on the then 5-year old Dutch warmblood Edison H, which she showed nationally until 2017. In 2016 Phoebe competed one year at international shows as a junior rider. Aboard Denford Surprise she went to the 2016 European Junior Riders Championships in Oliva Nova, Spain, where they finished 9th in the Kur. It was her last CDI in her career, until 2023.

In November 2016 Lara Edwards-Dyson gave Phoebe the ride on the Dutch warmblood stallion Cadans M, which she campaigned in the U.K. in the spring and summer of 2017. That year she began studying Modern Foreign Languages (French, German and Russian) at Warwick University, and in 2020 she spent time at Mannheim University in Germany.

Going Pro

At the start of 2020 she slowly tried to start as a young professional rider but realised soon she needed more experience and European exposure to grow.

In the winter of 2021-2022 she spent some time at the Balkenhol family before being hired as an assistant rider at Van Olst Horses in May 2022. She rode for Van Olst for two years, competing mainly young horses mainly on the regional and national circuit.

With Everest (by Especial x Negro) she did one CDI in that period, riding at the 2023 World Young Horse Championships, finishing 15th in the 5-year old consolation finals. They went on to win the Pavo Cup Finals.

Reesink

At the start of August 2024 Peters began a new chapter at Reesink Horses.

"After two years at Van Olst it felt like the natural time to find a new opportunity," she told Eurodressage. "I of course had amazing opportunities at Van Olst and will always be immensely grateful for my time there.

Phoebe hopes to be competing more under Reesink's banner. As first reported by Horses.nl, she has been joined at the new stable by Spaniard Jesus Garcia Santos who also rode at Van Olst.

"Thanks to Eugene and Bas I’ve joined a fantastic team and Jesus and I are really looking forward to the future," said Phoebe. "In our new venture we will get to compete a big variety of horses in a lot of different competitions both in Holland and Germany which I am very excited about."

In the summer the news circulated that Peters considered returning home to the U.K. but she debunked this.

"Moving back to the UK for me is not an option I will consider," she said "For me to chase my dreams in the equestrian world being in mainland Europe is a must and I absolutely love it over here."
