Adelinde Cornelissen's Grand Prix horse Fleau de Baian has been sold to the U.S.A. The 13-year old Dutch warmblood stallion found a new owner in Florida.

With the Olympic ownership deadline fast approaching on 15 January 2024, the U.S.A. is on a fast track to buy confirmed Grand Prix horses and secure more quality and potential for a potential team for Paris.

Parzival's Full Brother

Fleau de Baian is a KWPN stallion by Jazz out of Fidora (by Ulft x Roemer). He is bred by the Beyer family in The Netherlands.

The chestnut Fleau de Baian is the full brother of Adelinde Cornelissen's career making Parzival. Dam Fidora produced no less than 17 offspring of which six were by Jazz.

The horse was owned by Gerard Korbeld and Adelinde Cornelissen. He moved into Adelinde's care in 2014 when he was a 4-year old. They were 18th in the 2015 Pavo Cup Finals for 5-year olds. They represented KWPN at the 2017 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo and were 7th in the 7-year old final.

In March 2018 he was licensed for KWPN breeding after already having been approved for AES and Oldenburg. He also made his international small tour debut in Compiegne in May that year. After that Fleau de Baian did not compete internationally for 2.5 years.

Grand Prix Career

At the 2017 World YH Championships
In December 2019 the pair made its national Grand Prix debut at the local show in Haskerhorne, The Netherlands, finishing 6th with 68.732%. Their international Grand Prix debut was in Hagen in September 2020, where they scored 73.304% in the Grand Prix.

After Cornelissen's stellar career on Parzival, she was trying to make her way back on the Dutch team. Governor (by Totilas) was her first choice, Fleau her second GP ride. They were long listed for the Dutch Olympic team for Tokyo, but Adelinde only did one international on him in 2021 (Exloo). She stranded in second place in the consolation final of the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix Championships.

In 2022 they showed in Lier and Kronenberg, but in the FEI Nations Cup at the 2022 CDIO Compiegne Fleau got eliminated for blood in the mouth. They were fourth at the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix Championship but then withdrew from competing in the second Dutch team selection trial in Exloo for the 2022 World Championships.

Another one-year absence from international showing followed. In 2023 they returned at the CDI Geesteren and scored a double victory with 72 and 74% tests.  Their last international was in July in Kronenberg where they posted 70.239% in the Grand Prix for a 14th place. They were 8th in the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix Championships.

Cornelissen and Fleau de Baian suddenly came up for team consideration for the 2023 European Championships in Riesenbeck after two horses (Hartsuijker, Electra) dropped out of the team. Cornelissen, however, declined  for the team spot and Devenda Dijkstra got the opportunity of a lifetime.

Sold to the U.S.A.

The 13-year old KWPN stallion has now been sold to the U.S.A.

At the 2022 CDIO Compiegne
The ownership has been changed to Heidi Humphries, founder of Zen Elite equestrian center in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Humphries sponsors Adrienne Lyle on Zaunkönig and Top Gun, Quinn Iverson on King's Pleasure, and resident rider Kati Dagge, who rides her own Starstruck (by Bretton Woods x Stedinger).

The first well known "Euro Buys" Humphries didwere kWPN licensed stallion King's Pleasure in December 2020 and the Portuguese team horse Sai Baba Plus in May 2021. Both were scouted for her by Endel Ots.

In the summer of 2023 U.S. Olympian Adrienne Lyle scouted Zaunkönig at Helgstrand Dressage in Denmark for Humphries and she bought him for Adrienne to ride. The 8-year old Danish bred Guinness MT (by Grand Galaxy Win x Romanov) was also purchased in Denmark and the ride has been allocated to Lyle's student Christian Simonson.

The ride on Fleau has been allocated to Simonson.
